The band rehearses
most Tuesdays from January 29th thru June 3rd. Practices are held from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. They are held at the New Cumberland Fire Department located near Fourth and Bridge Streets in New Cumberland. Every practice consists of a 20 minute snack break. Refreshments are served and students get a chance to socialize. The first performance
will be held at Messiah Village on Saturday evening, May 31st. The season ends
with a performance at the New Cumberland Apple Festival held on Saturday, 27th.
.
Students are required to attend 75% of all the practices during the school year.
Of the
seven concerts, band members must be available for five of them. Prospective members may attend the first two practices before deciding if they want to join the band.
Any band member who meets the proficiency requirements may apply for membership in the band. This requirement is that you have completed at least
50% of your method book number 2.
This requirement can be adjusted slightly if a school band director feels the
band member shows outstanding ability and dedication. Early applications of the same ability level will get priority in selection. Your band director or music teacher will be contacted to verify your application.
No fees are charged to band members.
There are no auditions required for membership. The exception are members of the percussion section. An audition time suitable for the percussion student will be arranged.
